GR Compendium
Commissioned via Hero Melbourne for Toyota Australia, the Toyota GR Compendium is a three book volume celebrating Toyota Gazoo Racing, its contemporary vision and motorsport legacy. Designed for Toyota GR fans when they purchase a new car, the volume comprises three books and a selection of memorabilia items.
Collider was responsible for art direction, design, editorial direction, research and writing. For the second book, the studio sifted through over 10,000 images and articles and countless archive documents to distil the best of Toyota Motorsport history. The boxset, designed and curated by Studio, was printed, bound and assembled in Australia.
Pushing the boundaries of the print medium with a variety of paper engineering and physical embellishments the project was one of the most highly challenging and complex print projects in Australia in recent years. The project featured a miniature working zoetrope that could be assembled by hand within the book, a paper pop-up scene, flip book animation and a fan kit with a fold out A2 poster, textile badge, luggage tag and scented mirror ornament.
